"Eye in the Sky" was a song by the Alan Parsons Project from 1982.I was an even teenier 2 year old mini chunky bopper then.Well just tiny and chunky not a bopper. This song is unreal..
It is simply beautiful , it's one of those you never get sick of.
I forgot all about this song until I heard it while I was overseas on holiday and I realised it was from my chunky childhood. Now I always keep this as one of my top listed eighties songs.
This song was written in reference to George Orwell's classic novel Nineteen Eighty Four, regarding a possible future in which individual privacy is virtually non-existant due to the ever watching eye of Big Brother. In the novel citizens are constantly monitored by hidden video recording equipment.
In the literal sense in a world over-run by technology, it's very hard to find our privacy and one never really knows when one is being watched by " hidden cameras ". Especially all those celebrities constantly being exposed by the paparazzi and having to have their lives revealed to the whole world. However when push comes to shove I don't believe anyone can really run away because there is definately an "Eye in the Sky" watching our every move we make :)) and knowing exactly what's going on, ready when the time comes to take us up on it !!
Lyrics as below :
Don't think sorry's easily said
Don't try turning tables instead
You've taken lots of Chances before
But I'm not gonna give anymore
Don't ask me
That's how it goes
Cause part of me knows what you're thinkin'
Don't say words you're gonna regret
Don't let the fire rush to your head
I've heard the accusation before
And I ain't gonna take any more
Believe me
The sun in your Eyes
Made some of the lies worth believing
Chorus:
I am the eye in the sky
Looking at you
I can read your mind
I am the maker of rules
Dealing with fools
I can cheat you blind
And I don't need to see any more
To know that
I can read your mind, I can read your mind
Don't leave false illusions behind
Don't Cry cause I ain't chnaging my mind
So find another fool like before
Cause I ain't gonna live anymore believing
Some of the lies while all of the Signs are deceiving
(chorus)
I couldn't locate the original music video as it does go back some time , but here is a video of the one I found..
